“People like to feel they are an integral part of the story of humanity, and my tiles have the weight and feel of another era, a time when things were more permanent and long lasting. I think it’s this aspect of the tiles that make people want to reach out. In essence, they want to touch history.”

“People can take the elements they like and mix and match tiles on their walls to create their own personal style.”  – Sid Dickens

Jose-Luis Quijano

We bumped into Jose in an alley in Melbourne a year or so ago.

We bought some of his work immediately and have had some in and out of store since.

It is fantastic to see the artwork from Jose that we have had in store now being admired in new environments.

Like his epic namesake Alonso Quijano – the Spanish farmer who believes he is Don Quixote in Cervantes’ classic tale – Jose-Luis Quijano’s artistic journey is inspired by curiosity, imagination and discovery.

It is also underpinned by honesty; to both art and to the philosophy behind the works. Born in Abbeville, a northern France town on the Somme River, Quijano sees art as a spiritual quest that reminds us of our mortality. He believes art feeds us new concepts and ideas to help generate growth and wisdom.

Jose-luis Quijano – the real, real deal.
